Manchester United just can’t catch a break, can they? Either the Red Devils have horrendous luck or they’re doing something seriously wrong in training.
For the Newcastle United game, Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw, Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof, Jesse Lingard and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were all missing with various problems.
During the game, United have been dealt another injury problem, with the Red Devils now sweating on the fitness of full-back Diogo Dalot…
The Portuguese had to be substituted midway through the second half against Newcastle, which was a shame as he actually looked pretty solid for the most part.
However, Dalot is getting himself a bit of a reputation as being injury-prone. He was sidelined when making the move to United and continued to struggle with small problems throughout this debut season.
Going into 2019’s summer, Dalot was injured again and had no pre-season whatsoever – and on just his third game back, he’s now sidelined again.
Although we’re not sure the severity of the issue, it has to be a genuine concern for Solskjaer. Perhaps that’s why Wan-Bissaka was signed from Crystal Palace in a £50million deal.
At least United now have a fortnight to allow players to rest up and get back to full fitness before Liverpool visit Old Trafford next time out…
