Over the summer, Manchester United acquired little-known right-back Diogo Dalot from FC Porto.
At the time, I guess nobody knew what sort of player we’re getting. However, Dalot has looked extremely promising, although he still needs time to fully develop.
The teenager has all the makings of our future in that position of the field, and despite playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world, Dalot isn’t forgetting where he came from.
According to a report from ESPN, Dalot made the incredible gesture of using his first United pay packet to buy his first ever team a new minibus.
Escola de Futebol O Fintas, in Braga, received the new transport which will no doubt help them on their travels from game-to-game. This is just brilliant from Dalot; who clearly is thankful to all that his former employers did for him.
I think it’s more the fact that he used his first wages to sort out the team who gave him a chance way back when. He, like many others at United, isn’t forgetting his roots. He just loves playing the sport he adored as a kid and that’s all there is to it. For him, the money seems secondary which is mightily important if you want to make it to the top.
