Manchester United haven’t played a home game in exactly two months now, in what has been the weirdest time of most peoples lives to date.
Needs-must, though, and footballing activities being postponed was definitely the smart play. That said, I can’t wait for things to get going again, though in the meantime, players are busy carrying out interviews (all at a safe distance, of course) while maintaining their fitness levels.
The latest player to carry out their media duties was Diogo Dalot, who, on an Instagram Q&A, was asked to name the toughest opponent he’s ever faced. To our surprise, the Portuguese named 24-year-old United star Anthony Martial as his hardest ever opponent…
“I would say this man right here [Martial],” he told SoccerBible on Instagram, per the Manchester Evening News. “I think he doesn’t need any introductions. He’s a fantastic player.”
This is definitely high praise indeed, particularly from a young man who has proven himself as an excellent defender, particularly in the one-on-one scenario.
A fully fit Martial is up there with the best in the business in my opinion. It’s a shame that we haven’t seen him playing at an elite level week-in-week-out, but when on his game there aren’t many better.
Fortunately, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems to be dragging that consistency out of him and it’s great to see. Hopefully, the Frenchman is now on an upward trajectory as he looks to power United to a place in the top four.
