Manchester United Football Club made three signings during the summer transfer window. The only one to make a first-team impact so far? Fred.
However, he could be joined in amongst it by Diogo Dalot in the not too distant future, after the 19-year-old made his U23s debut last night against Stoke City.
The right-back spent the summer nursing injury hence why we didn’t see him involved during the pre-season tour, but it seems as though he’s over those problems and is ready to make an impact.
He looked calm, confident, willing to get forward and surprisingly tall against Stoke. It was a mature performance from the young man. The good news? It’s only going to get better as those all-important fitness levels build.
Shortly after making his debut, Dalot took to Twitter to express his delight at wearing the United shirt for the first time. What an honour it is for the immensely gifted young man.
Very happy to be back and wear this shirt for the first time ???⚪ Thank you all for the messages in these last months ?? @ManUtd pic.twitter.com/WRiSfJpcm7

The best thing for Dalot is that he has time on his side. Nobody knows just how he’ll turn out, but he’s a teenager. Mourinho won’t rush him which will be key for development.
Hopefully, we’ll see him in action in a cup game or two during the season. Who knows, he may get a handful of Premier League appearances if he impresses.
