Diogo Dalot told he’s in Erik ten Hag’s plans for next season

Diogo Dalot will feature in Erik ten Hag’s squad for the 2022/23 season.

Manchester United’s first-team squad will look incredibly different come the start of next term. We already know the names of several stars who will leave on free transfers. No doubt the list of exits will only grow over the next few weeks.

Erik ten Hag brings with him a genuine playing identity. I’d argue that’s something United have lacked since Jose Mourinho was in charge. Some players will benefit and others will fade away.

We covered a Sky Sports story not too long ago claiming Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been deemed surplus to requirements. Well, Wan-Bissaka’s loss is Diogo Dalot’s gain, apparently…

The story comes from the Manchester Evening News and they state that the 23-year-old has been told he’s in Ten Hag’s plans for next season.

Apparently United have told interested parties that they currently have ‘no intention’ of negotiating Dalot’s sale. Teams showing keenness on signing the right-back include AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund.

I have to be honest, if Dalot is our first-choice right-back going into the new season, I’ll be pretty worried. I just don’t think he’s good enough to start in a side with genuine title aspirations.

I do believe Dalot will improve under Ten Hag because it’s a style of play that fits in line with the Portuguese’s strengths. Will that be enough to turn Dalot into a top-class star? I’m not so sure.

On the flip side, this feels like curtains for Wan-Bissaka at United. He has apparently been told he isn’t in Ten Hag’s plans going forward and no doubt United are working to move on from the Englishman this summer.

Do you think Diogo Dalot is good enough to start under Erik ten Hag? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
