FC Barcelona interested in signing out-of-favour Diogo Dalot: report

Manchester United Football Club are set for a huge summer, in terms of both ins and outs. One player who has fallen down the pecking order may well be on the way out, with Barcelona targeting a Diogo Dalot transfer…

It wasn’t that long ago when here at Old Trafford Faithful HQ, we were talking up Diogo Dalot as he approached his Manchester United last chance saloon. Unfortunately, that chance never came with Timothy Fosu-Mensah stepping into the side instead.

At that point, the writing looked on the wall for the young Portuguese. We’ve barely seen him in the match-day squad post-lockdown, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seemingly having seen enough of the full-back.

Now, in a transfer window preview by ESPN, it is being claimed that La Liga giants, FC Barcelona, are interested in signing United’s out-of-favour 21-year-old.

Dalot, who has only made 11 appearances in all competitions this season, has fallen way down in the pecking order, behind Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Brandon Williams.

Dalot out of time?

Unless he’s going to move further forward into that right-winger role, it seems as though Dalot’s time is up.

For what it’s worth, a move to FC Barcelona would be great for him. He’d definitely fit their style of play better, that’s for sure.

As a right-back, though, it was over as soon as Aaron Wan-Bissaka walked through the entrance door. For me, The Spider has been our Player of the Season and he’ll only get better.

The Red Devils now need to get a decent transfer fee for yet another Jose Mourinho flop. That’s easier said than done in the current climate, mind.

Hopefully, a deal can be struck as soon as possible. Leaving Solskjaer ample time to re-invest that money into the playing squad…
