Diogo Dalot ‘very happy’ at Man United

The agent of Diogo Dalot is expecting his client to stay at Man United beyond this summer.

Changes are afoot at Manchester United. It’s going to be an intriguing summer, as we look towards the future and work out what players Erik ten Hag has in his plans.

Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard are both on the way out this summer, joining Nemanja Matic and Edinson Cavani as the confirmed departures so far. No doubt many more will follow.

Another name who could leave is Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The Englishman has already been deemed surplus to requirements by the incoming Ten Hag.

Well, one man who will remain a Red Devil is Diogo Dalot – according to his agent, at least.

Carlo Goncalves, who represents Dalot, is ‘expecting’ the Man United star to stay at the club this summer, he revealed yesterday.

Apparently, the Portugal international is ‘very happy’ at United, after a good season for Dalot on a personal level.

‘He is very happy at Manchester United. The season went well for him personally, but obviously, it didn’t go well for Manchester United given the club’s expectations.‘ Goncalves told 101 Great Goals.

‘But we are expecting Diogo to stay for next season, for sure’.

I’d disagree in regards to how Dalot’s season went. I honestly thought he was distinctly average for the most part. The lack of assists and goal contributions left me massively underwhelmed, whereas defensively, the former FC Porto man struggled at times.

Aged just 23, there is plenty of room for Dalot to develop. Perhaps a change in manager (and system), will further help the right-back along the way. I’m more than happy to wipe the slate keen and give him one final opportunity to prove his worth.

The pressure on Dalot’s shoulders is looking set to only increase, mind. If Wan-Bissaka is allowed to leave, the Portuguese will be the defacto first-choice right-sided defender before a new player is signed.

For now, all eyes will point towards pre-season tour. If Dalot impresses there, then I have absolutely no qualms with him getting the job to start the 2022/23 season.
