Manchester United Football Club have today confirmed that Michael Carrick has penned a new deal at Old Trafford. The 33-year old’s deal was due to expire in just a few months time, but he has added a further year to that deal, and he’ll remain a red until at least June 2016.
Carrick returned to the starting line-up this weekend against Spurs, and you could sense the calmness that he brought to the team.
Upon signing the contract, Van Gaal said:
“I am delighted that Michael has extended his contract. Michael is a great reader of the game and his exceptional versatility has enabled me to play him in different positions on the pitch. He is my vice-captain and I have been impressed by his professionalism both on and off the pitch. He is a great inspiration for any young player.”
Its great that our manager speaks so highly of Carrick, and it would be truly great to see him join the coaching staff at the club when he decides to hang up his boots.
