Axel Tuanzebe has joined Aston Villa on loan for the remainder of the season, Manchester United have confirmed.
The 20-year-old defender had been on the first-team squad fringe for the most part, making three appearances across all competitions.
However, Tuanzebe is at that stage in his career where regular football is a must for his development and progress – and playing week-in-week-out in the Championship, possibly alongside John Terry, will be fantastic for his career.
Jose Mourinho trusts the young man enough to put him on the bench and even throw him on in specific situations, so it’s clear that he does have a future at Old Trafford in the long-term.
Hopefully, he’ll go to Villa Park and impress while aiding their bid for a Premier League return. Then he’ll come back to United hungry to keep playing every week, wanting to show Mourinho exactly why he deserves to be involved more often.
I fully expect Tuanzebe to make a positive impact under ex-Red Steve Bruce, and Mourinho will certainly be keeping a keen eye on the young Mancunian.
