Donny van de Beek all-smiles in Everton colours as he completes loan move

Donny van de Beek has completed a loan move to Everton for the remainder of the season.

In the end, a move away for Donny van de Beek felt inevitable. The Dutchman just wants to play football, having been rooted to the bench for the better part of eighteen months.

The former Ajax man hasn’t started a Premier League game all season. Obviously, that’s a less than ideal situation for a man who cost almost £40million.

With the window winding down a move to Crystal Palace looked likely – but in the end, Everton would swoop, with Van de Beek signing a deal with The Toffees until the end of the season.

Shortly after, the club would release photos of Van de Beek, all-smiles, in Everton colours for the first time. He’d also explain why the number 30 would be chosen. That was what he wore at Ajax when he started his career back in his homeland.

More than anything, this is about building up confidence once again. Van de Beek’s morale will be at an all-time low right now, despite the fact he’s obviously a big believer in his own ability as he’s made it this far.

It’s obviously a tricky situation as we don’t see what goes on in training. I can only assume Van de Beek plays poorly there on a regular basis, otherwise, he surely would have been given at least half a chance to prove his worth?

Also, you have to factor in what will happen over the summer. If Van de Beek does well, will he be given another chance at Old Trafford, or will United cash in while they have a very sellable player? Plenty of that depends on who the new manager ends up being.

Best of luck, Donny!
