Donny van de Beek once again finds himself out of the picture at Man United.
Donny van de Beek. Remember him? Honestly, I’d personally forgotten he was at the club as we haven’t seen him in months!
When you sit down and think about it, it’s pretty sad. He’s a talented player who should be more involved than he has been. Whether through his own issues or things out of his control, it must be so demoralising.
Many thought the appointment of Erik ten Hag would breathe new life into Van de Beek. Sadly, that just hasn’t happened. If anything, he’s now further away from starting games…
Now, the United star finds himself as ‘surplus to requirements’ at Old Trafford, with there now being every chance that Van de Beek could move on in January. That’s according to Pete O’Rourke, who works for Sky Sports.
Check out what Pete O’Rourke said on Donny van de Beek in full here:
“He finds himself sort of surplus to requirements at Manchester United right now and it’s going to be interesting to see what happens with van de Beek in January.” O’Rourke told GiveMeSport.
“Will he look to move on in search of regular first-team football or will he get more opportunities in the Manchester United team?
“But, right now, it does seem like it’s going to be a tough, long season ahead for van de Beek if the opportunities aren’t going to be given to him by ten Hag.”
At this point, it’s just cruel on Van de Beek. The guy just wants to play football. He can’t even make United’s bench.
A move away from Old Trafford in January feels like an absolute inevitability. It’s the best outcome for all involved. United find themselves constantly asked about Van de Beek. The player needs this move for the good of his career, while his value is only going to decrease from here on out.
It just hasn’t worked. There’s no shame in that. It happens sometimes. Just let the poor lad go and get his career back on track. He’s already going to miss a World Cup because of this situation. How much more pain does the Reds want to inflict on Donny?
