Man United fans react to top Donny van de Beek display vs Istanbul Basaksehir

Donny van de Beek would start last night vs Istanbul Basaksehir and what a performance he put in. As you’d imagine, Manchester United fans were delighted.

Time and time again, Manchester United fans have been calling for Donny van de Beek to start games. Last night against Istanbul Basaksehir, we’d all see that wish granted.

The Dutchman would be included from the off against the Turkish outfit and it’s no surprise the Reds went on to win the midfield battle comfortably.

Deployed in a deeper role, Van de Beek was tasked with not only playing the balls in between the lines, but also working hard and getting stuck in where needed. It was an outing of real maturity from the Dutchman, who looks right at home at the heart of that United midfield.

It does make you wonder why Van de Beek has been made to wait so long for his opportunity, particularly when every time he’s started, we’ve seen an outrageously-good performance.

He has the footballing brain to see a pass, then the skill level to execute it to perfection. We’re talking about a player who is going to have a huge say on how our season goes and I’m just happy that he’s now seeing the on-field action that he deserves.

Now, it’s about kicking on from here and not relinquishing his place in the side. Yes, that’s easier said than done given the quality options that Solskjaer has in midfield, but we’re talking about an absolute gem of a footballer here.

As you’d imagine, the United fans were left delighted to the star’s top performance last night and rightly so, too… Surely Van de Beek has to be in the United team that takes on Southampton this weekend?
