Donny van de Beek has been ruled out for the rest of the 2022/23 season.
Manchester United had been patiently waiting on news in regards to the severity of the injury suffered by Donny van de Beek. Sadly, it’s bad news.
Erik ten Hag met the media today and confirmed the blow that the star will be out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
The gaffer seemed somewhat upbeat about Van de Beek’s overall health, stating that the Dutchman will be back and ready to go by the time pre-season rolls around this coming summer.
This is a small positive in a pretty sad situation for Van de Beek, who just cannot catch a break here in Manchester.
Check out what Erik ten Hag had to say on Donny van de Beek here:
“I think it is quite positive news,” Ten Hag told the media, including ManUtd.com.
“Of course, the bad news is he is out for the rest of the season, but the good news is, in the long term, his knee will be okay and he will be ready again to play at the highest levels and will be ready for the start of pre-season.”
Knee injuries can potentially be career-ending. This one, albeit serious, thankfully hasn’t ended Van de Beek’s footballing profession early. Although the road to recovery will be pretty long, he’s in the hands of some of the best in the business here in Manchester.
More than anything, it’s tough mentally. Van de Beek is used to competing at the highest level on a day-in-day-out basis. Now, it’ll be a lot of time sat around, waiting for the knee to heal. Then, it’ll be a long rehabilitation process.
Hopefully, all goes smoothly and he’s back healthy for United’s pre-season tour.
Get well soon, Donny!
