Donny van de Beek has sent a heartfelt message to the Man United fans after suffering a season-ending injury.
Manchester United feared the worst when Donny van de Beek came off the pitch in tears after suffering what looked like a serious injury last week.
Yesterday, it was confirmed that the Dutchman’s season is over – though thankfully, the damage wasn’t career-ending. Instead, Van de Beek, all being well, should be ready by the time pre-season comes around.
Obviously, it’s a bitter blow to lose the midfielder, even despite the fact he has been pretty sub-par since arriving here in Manchester. However, he’s still a United player and you never like to see anyone suffer, particularly one of our own.
After Erik ten Hag told us all that Van de Beek is done for 2022/23, the player himself took to Twitter to send a message to the fans, admitting that he’ll work hard to come back even stronger, while the messages of support do mean an awful lot to him.
Check out Donny van de Beek’s tweet to supporters here:
This poor lad just cannot catch a break right now. Ten Hag’s appointment was supposed to be the start of him working back to his best. Sadly, that hasn’t happened so far…
Minor injuries disrupted his start to the campaign, while this latest problem just completely derails it. The good news? There’s always another opportunity around the corner in football. He’ll get that chance, with a full pre-season under his belt, in 2023/24.
More than anything now, it’s about maintaining that mental toughness during this difficult time of rehabilitation and sitting around not doing an awful lot. No doubt Donny has a great support system around him to help him through this period.
Get well soon, Donny.
