Donny van de Beek set for Crystal Palace loan move

Donny van de Beek looks set to be playing his football for Crystal Palace in the second half of the season.

Back in the summer of 2020, Manchester United had thought they’d unearthed an absolute gem of a footballer in the form of Donny van de Beek.

The Dutchman started brightly, looking lively in his first few games. However, the bright form quickly fizzled out and the ex-Ajax man would spend far more time than he’d like rooted to the substitutes bench.

Fast forward eighteen months and literally nothing has changed for Van de Beek, despite working under a different manager. The midfielder just wants to play football, hence why a move away in some capacity has been talked up this month.

Well, according to Alex Turk, Van de Beek is about to get his wish. A deal is done and all agreed, with the 24-year-old United star set to go out on loan for the remainder of the season. He’ll head to Crystal Palace to work with Patrick Vieira.

A few days ago we covered a claim that stated that Palace believed they had a ‘strong chance at acquiring Donny. Well, that source certainly wasn’t wrong.

Although Van de Beek will probably be feeling pretty hard-done-by, given the fact that he wants to be playing at a higher level, this is a good opportunity for him to prove his worth in this country.

It’s hard to build confidence and momentum when you’re barely playing, so it may take the midfielder a couple of games to get fully up to speed. I just hope he really does get the chance to start on a regular basis and hopefully prove all his doubters wrong.
