Donny van de Beek set to look for new club this summer after unsuccessful loan

Donny van de Beek is all set to look for a new club this coming summer.

Manchester United sanctioned many loan moves for struggling stars over the last nine months. Erik ten Hag’s squad is jam-packed with underperforming, overpaid players, in many different positions.

Among them is Donny van de Beek. The Dutchman arrived at United with promise aplenty, though that initial hype fizzled out quickly. Even Erik ten Hag, who managed him at Ajax, couldn’t get a tune out of the midfielder.

A loan move was sanctioned last summer, with Van de Beek heading to Eintracht Frankfurt on loan. The German side do have an option to buy outright for around £10m plus add-ons.

According to Fabrizio Romano, that deal will not be triggered, with Van de Beek enduring an unsuccessful loan spell. The Dutch midfielder will return to United in June as a result.

At that point, the United player is ‘expected’ to look for a new club this coming summer.

Check out Fabrizio Romano’s X post on the news here:

This coming summer is likely the last time United will be able to receive a transfer fee for Van de Beek, although it’s going to be a very minimal figure based on his poor performances.

At the end of the day, United just want his wages off the books. Van de Beek is on a decent chunk of change, while not earning those figures with his displays on the field.

Again, this is just another attempt at United trying to clear the decks and hit the rest button. Saving this money could allow Ten Hag more flexibility in the upcoming transfer window, assuming he’s still manager.
