Donny van de Beek is set to end a torrid time at Man United next week.
One of Manchester United’s main goals this summer is selling players and clearing some space within the playing squad. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS are looking to trim down the wage budget, in order to help the Red Devils comply with Premier League Profit & Sustainability rules.
Among the players who should be looking to leave the Theatre of Dreams this summer is Donny van de Beek. The Dutchman has endured a torrid time in Manchester, looking like a fraction of the midfielder he was at Ajax under Erik ten Hag.
United’s boss hasn’t been able to help Van de Beek return to his best form, now a permanent exit away from the club is in the offing, according to Fabrizio Romano.
According to his information, the United player is ‘expected’ to seal an exit away from the club ‘early next week’, assuming all goes to plan on the player’s side.
Romano also confirms the transfer fee; a pitiful £850,000 up front, with around £3.5m available in attainable add-ons and bonuses.

Man United will receive bit less than €1m fixed fee plus easy add-ons up to €4/5m based on appearances and extra difficult add-ons, plus sell-on clause. pic.twitter.com/J1hTlSjWnu
United paid £35m for Van de Beek. While it was obvious they were never going to recoup close to that amount, this is a shockingly low fee for a man of the Dutchman’s quality.
Yes, he has struggled here in Manchester but he’s only 27. I’d have initially imagined the club would earn around £10m for Van de Beek, but this is way lower than we all expected. I guess the main thing is that he’s now off the books and no longer taking up wages within the squad.
Hopefully, the La Liga side Girona can help Van de Beek rediscover his confidence and get his career back on track.
