Jadon Sancho to Man United has been the transfer story everyone is talking about. Here at Old Trafford Faithful, we’ve been busy covering the rumours almost daily...
Well today, there’s another update on that front and it comes from Bild journalist, Christian Falk, who has been pretty much on the money in regards to Borussia Dortmund transfers over the last couple of years.
Falk took to Twitter to share the news that United have been given a Sancho ultimatum, with Dortmund setting an August 10th deadline that the deal must be done by.
What’s interesting is that this comes just 24-hours after a story from Ruhr Nachrichten we covered yesterday, in which the August deadline was also mentioned. It’s always nice when a scoop is backed up by a second source and it leads me to believe there’s some truth in it.
Understandably, Dortmund want clarity on Sancho’s future before the 2020/21 term kicks off. If he leaves, they obviously want time to re-invest that money into the playing squad.
COVID-19 presents a real problem or two, though. Not only is the summer period likely to be shortened, there’s also likely to be significantly less money flying around…
Dortmund will want maximum value for their prized asset, while United will try and use the pandemic to their advantage. It remains to be seen if some common ground will be reached – though you’d like to think a deal will happen.
Look, you don’t need me to tell you how good Sancho is. We’re talking about a player who’d greatly improve not only the United starting line-up but the playing squad as a whole.
Word on the grapevine is that personal terms will not be a problem. It’s about whether United can offer up a satisfactory transfer fee to the Black and Yellows – though they’ll try to remain tough negotiators for as long as possible.
The Reds better act quick…
