Manchester United have been warned off making a bid for Paris Saint-Germain’s star striker, Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan is becoming increasingly frustrated with his lack of playing time up front due to Zlatan Ibrahimovic being first choice.
When reports of a €50million offer from United for Cavani were put to the PSG owner, he immediately said that a much more sizeable bid would be needed to prise him away from Paris.
Nasser Al Khelaifi, the PSG owner said: “I have not held talks with Cavani over his future. He is a young player and is the future of PSG.
“A €50m offer from Manchester United? I would not even look at such a bid.”
There is no doubting that the 26-year old striker has immense talent and an instinctive goalscoring ability. With United having Robin van Persie injured and Radamel Falcao under performing, we would need a world class replacement to come in and score the goals needed.
Cavani would fit that bill perfectly, but Wayne Rooney would probably remain number one choice for the club.
