Early Squad News: Man United name 20-man squad vs Palace – including Gomes

Manchester United have made an excellent start to the Premier League campaign, winning one and drawing one. Today, Crystal Palace visit Old Trafford – in a game that presents the Red Devils a real opportunity to send out a message.

It’s about winning this one convincingly and proving that this United team is made of sterner stuff, and before the game, a 20-man squad has been spotted arriving at the Lowry Hotel. As always, courtesy of the Manchester Evening News.

Involved for the first time this season is 18-year-old starlet Angel Gomes. The attacking midfielder has been in with the U23s in the season’s early goings – but this could be his big chance to make a mark on the first-team.

He has massive talent and this season is now or never for him at Old Trafford – particularly as his contract expires in under twelve months time. Personally, I’d give him the start ahead of Jesse Lingard, though it’d be a big call by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The rest of the squad is pretty much as you’d expect. Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, David de Gea are all included – as are the three new signings.

It’s great to see no Phil Jones and Chris Smalling, as the Baby Faced Assassin looks to take this squad in a different direction.

Confirmed 20-man squad vs Crystal Palace (via the Manchester Evening News):

David de Gea, Sergio Romero, Lee Grant, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Axel Tuanzebe, Victor Lindelof, Ashley Young, Luke Shaw, Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Andreas Pereira, Scott McTominay, Daniel James, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Angel Gomes, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood.
