Ed Woodward keen on Mauricio Pochettino, talks with his representatives have taken place: report

Manchester United Football Club are throwing up a real mixed bag under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Red Devils’ topsy-turvy form is leaving the fanbase split right down the middle in regards to the Baby Faced Assassin, and it feels the #OleOut brigade is growing with each passing week.

With that in mind, it’s only natural that United look at potential successors, with one name coming up more than most; Mauricio Pochettino.

It was just yesterday that the Argentine told Sky Sports News that he’d love a Premier League return since being sacked by Tottenham Hotspur. Well, United may have just reciprocated that feeling…

On the most recent edition of the Transfer Window Podcast, the usually reliable Duncan Castles said that Edward Woodward is keen, and has been keen on the 47-year-old manager. Furthermore, talks with Pochettino’s representatives have already taken place.

Pochettino worked wonders at Spurs, until things massively went downhill following a Champions League final loss to Liverpool. Now, it seems as though the gaffer is ready for another crack at the whip on English shores.

It goes without saying that the fit between United and Poch feels almost-perfect. I say almost as he’s yet to win a major trophy, which is what this club is built upon.

Honestly, in terms of playing style, I wouldn’t expect much different from Poch than what we see under Solskjaer. I don’t doubt the Argentine would give the players an initial lift, but until changes are made above, I’m not sure anyone can do this job at the required level…
