Edin Dzeko is once again being linked with a transfer to Man United, with time running out on this deadline day.
Just a few days ago, we covered a report from Gazzetta dello Sport who claimed that Manchester United had been offered the opportunity to sign Edin Dzeko.
Well, the Italian media are pushing that claim again this morning. It comes from Corriere dello Sport, translated by Sport Witness. Again, it’s a similar claim being made.
Apparently, Dzeko’s reps have had contact with United in the last ‘few hours’ over the potential transfer of the 34-year-old. However, it’s also stated that there is probably not sufficient time left in the window in order to complete a deal…
Dzeko has fallen out with AS Roma’s current manager, Pablo Fonseca, and the striker is seemingly working hard to secure himself a move away from the Serie A outfit before today’s deadline slams shut.
Would Dzeko be a good addition?
Well, there’s a gap there after Odion Ighalo has left Old Trafford. However, is a 34-year-old Dzeko really something United need? That’s before we even factor in Dzeko’s links to City. The United fans won’t be best-pleased about that…
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has shown a preference to lean towards signing younger players and you’d expect that trend to continue. I get that Edinson Cavani was added and he’s, shall we say, ‘more experienced’, though one player of that age is more than enough.
Personally, I’d hope United would be looking to prioritise the addition of another defensive-midfielder and top-class right-winger. Both deals are far more likely to happen in the summer, though, as opposed to today…
