Edinson Cavani has won his first Manchester United Player of the Month award.
El Matador has been an absolute revelation for this young Manchester United side. Goals, leadership and most importantly, a real presence up top.
Our Uruguayan has grown into this season, which makes sense given he had little-to-no pre-season as a free agent ahead of the 2020/21 term. Now, we’re starting to see all his qualities on full display.
The month of April was undoubtedly his best in United colours. Five goals across all competitions, with a few assists chucked in for good measure. The 34-year-old would also sign a contract, keeping him at Old Trafford for another year.
For his efforts in April, Cavani would be named United’s Player of the Month. It’s the first time he’s won the award and, as you can imagine, he looked delighted when collecting the trophy.

I’ve said it before but at the time of his signing, I thought we were getting more Radamel Falcao, rather we’ve had a Zlatan Ibrahimovic-like impact and I really understand why Cavani has scored so many goals across his great career.
Going into a massive summer transfer window, keeping Cavani around gives the gaffer one less headache to worry about. Perhaps big money can now be spent on a top-class centre-back or elite-level right-winger. Who knows, maybe we’ll be lucky enough to get both…?
Now, the next task for Cavani is to score in front of the fans. Hopefully, he gets that chance on Tuesday when Fulham visit the Theatre of Dreams.
