Edinson Cavani is back and ready to play, according to the gaffer.
Manchester United Football Club take on Aston Villa tomorrow lunchtime, in a game where the Red Devils will be looking to bounce back following midweek disappointment.
The Old Trafford club were well-beaten by West Ham United in the EFL Cup, though it was a much-changed side.
No doubt the team will look far more familiar come 12:30 BST tomorrow, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer set to revert to the big guns.
Well, they’ll be one more face in that party, with Solskjaer confirming an injury boost, as 17-goal star Edinson Cavani is available for selection – and he’ll be in the squad.
Check out what the gaffer had to say here:
“Edinson has joined in training fully after that game [on Wednesday] and heβs held his hand up and is ready,” declared Ole to ManUtd.com.
“Last season as well, he didn’t have a pre-season when he came here. He’s so professional and meticulous and, of course, we’re glad to now have him back training with us and in the squad.”
I can’t stress how important this is. Cavani was so vital to our success last term due to his movement, team ethic and work rate. He’s a player who will contribute to our season, regardless of the Cristiano Ronaldo addition.
El Matador will get his minutes across multiple competitions and I don’t doubt that he’ll play some part tomorrow if United are needing a goal. He’s just too good to stay out of the loop and it’s going to be intriguing to see how Solskjaer fits Cavani and Ronaldo in the same team.
What I’m most excited about is Giving Cavani a proper Old Trafford welcome. He’s not really seen a full Theatre of Dreams stadium and he’ll obviously witness that tomrorow. I’m still not convinced he knows just how loved he is at this club!
Welcome back, Edi!
