Picture: Edinson Cavani back in Man United training following injury

Edinson Cavani has been spotted back in Manchester United training following a brief spell on the sidelines.

Many were left perplexed when Edinson Cavani was the one sacrificed at half-time against West Ham United just over a week ago. Although we’d later learn El Matador picked up an injury.

We were left in the dark in regards to exactly what the problem was. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer always gave off the impression it wasn’t anything serious.

Cavani would miss the games against RB Leipzig and Manchester City, though the five-day break in between the derby and tomorrow’s game against Sheffield United has seemingly given him a chance at recovering in time. Which is obviously great news.

United have seemingly been given an injury lift, with the star returning to training after missing the last couple of games. He was spotted involved in the latest session earlier today.

Timing-wise, it’s a nice boost for Solskjaer. As we all know, the games come thick and fast over the winter period, and having a player of Cavani’s quality to call upon could well be key.

When you factor in a misfiring Anthony Martial and an inconsistent Marcus Rashford, having that proven goalscorer in Cavani to call upon cannot be understated.

That said, I’d be surprised if Cavani is thrown straight into it against a physical Sheffield United side tomorrow night. Instead, this feels like an excellent opportunity to try and get Martial a goal or two.

If needs be, Cavani can be called upon off the substitutes bench. I think we’d all prefer to see him not overdo it, particularly with a huge game against Leeds United just on the horizon.

Welcome back to the squad, Edinson! Hopefully, he can continue with that fine form he showed just before picking up the knock.
