Edinson Cavani is the only Manchester United player included in the latest Premier League WhoScored Team of the Week.

El Matador was simply brilliant at the weekend, wasn’t he? It’s easy to forget he only played just 45 minutes, coming on as a second-half substitute. However, Edinson Cavani absolutely changed the game.

Hold-up play, constantly on the move, finding space in tight areas and bringing other teammates into the action. Cavani showed us all just how brilliantly-effective he can be for this young Manchester United side.

Two superb headers and one lovely assist later, Cavani is rapidly endearing himself to the Old Trafford Faithful. It goes without saying that the younger players in the squad like Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood can all learn plenty from watching the 33-year-old work.

Right now, Cavani feels like the best out-and-out striker we have, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer once again showing his brilliance in the transfer market.

Anyway, for that top performance, Cavani has been named in the latest WhoScored Team of the Week – the only Red Devil to make the cut this time around.

Coming in with a 9.04 rating, Cavani’s 45-minute cameo was only bettered by three players this week via WhoScored’s rankings, which tells you everything you need to know about his world-class second-half.

We can’t say it hasn’t been coming, either. Cavani has impressed on multiple cameos, including changing the game against West Brom just the week before.

Surely a first Premier League start is just around the corner? Heck, he’s shown us all he is more than good enough!

I also thought Bruno Fernandes may have done enough to sneak into this team. Our Portuguese Magnifico would leave the field with a goal and an assist against his name, though the likes of James Ward-Prowse and Jack Grealish just managed to keep him out.

For Cavani, a game against his old side is on the cards tonight. What a lovely feeling it would be for him to help United knock PSG out of the Champions League…
