Edinson Cavani set for ‘last dance’ at Man United

Edinson Cavani is set for one ‘last dance’ at Man United, before calling it quits on a stunning career.

El Matador was undoubtedly the surprise signing on 2020’s transfer deadline day. Edinson Cavani’s move to Old Trafford was always going to go one of two ways; Radamel Falcao or Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

I’m pleased to report it was definitely the latter, with Cavani giving us some glorious moments in 2020/21. The striker himself expected to only spend one season at the Theatre of Dreams, before moving back to South America to see out his career.

Instead, the striker would be persuaded to stay in Manchester by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. I’m sure a hefty wage packed helped out in that regard.

However, according to the United star himself, this will be his ‘last dance’ with the Reds this season – before hanging up his boots after the World Cup in Qatar.

Check out what El Matador had to say here:

“I thought about retiring and going back to Uruguay to live out in the country instead of travelling and playing football,” Cavani confessed, as quoted by The Mirror.

“In football terms, my dream is to reach the World Cup in Qatar, then step aside and dedicate myself more to my family, my people, my things.

“We are now in the last dance.”

We’re just blessed that we’re going to see another year of Cavani in United colours. I never thought he’d stick around, particularly after the campaign ended on such a sour note.

However, Cavani feels like he has unfinished business, while this United squad is in an excellent position following some massive signings this summer.

I just can’t wait for the Stretford End to cheer Cavani’s name. I’m still not sure the now 34-year-old understands just how loved he is by our fans – and come this weekend, he’ll definitely have a better understanding of that.

For us, we have to enjoy it every single time Cavani steps out onto that field. He’s a brilliant footballer who has enjoyed a stunning career.

As Cavani so aptly states, he’s approaching the end-game now and we won’t be able to basque in his insane skills forever.
