Edinson Cavani is set to be available for selection vs Leeds United on Sunday.
Well, it has been a while since Manchester United have faced off against their Yorkshire rivals in the Premier League. That wait ends this Sunday.
The Red Devils go into this one with their impeccable away record intact. However, their home form needs working on – and quickly. What better way to put things right than against the old enemy from Yorkshire, eh?
Ahead of the game, United’s squad is looking in pretty good knick. In fact, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s options are set to grow by one.
According to Solskjaer himself, key United star Edinson Cavani is now ready to play. He’s available to take part vs Leeds United following injury, which is a massive lift.
Check out what Solskjaer had to say here:
“Edinson will be available, I think, yeah,” Ole is quoted as saying by ManUtd.com.
“He trained this morning so he should be available for the Leeds game.
“I don’t think we lost anyone [during the win over Sheffield United]. When you win games, the boys never feel the little knocks and bruises too badly.”
After missing the last few fixtures, including last night’s 3-2 win over Sheffield United, Cavani being back fit again just gives the gaffer another option.
If there’s any area we’re looking weak (in terms of numbers right now), it’s at the top end of the field. Outside of Anthony Martial, the squad lacked that top-quality forward until Cavani’s arrival. Having the Uruguay international as an option over the winter schedule could be massive.
We’ve already seen just how brilliant he can be. Watch those two headers he scored against Southampton and you’ll know he oozes class.
Whether he’ll be fit enough to start this one remains to be seen, but he’s definitely experienced enough to be able to manage his body if called upon.
I guess the only issue now is whether he’ll face a ban for *that* social media post he published. Cavani has been charged so now it’s just a waiting game to see what further action is taken by the FA…
