Edinson Cavani is looking like being a Manchester United player for the 2021/22 campaign.
For us here at Old Trafford Faithful, it looked like Edinson Cavani had all-but decided to leave the Theatre of Dreams after just one season.
El Matador has made an excellent impression on Manchester United supporters all over the globe, and it would be cruel if us fans couldn’t witness his talents live and in the flesh at least once.
Well, we may still get that opportunity, with ESPN Uruguay journalist, Diego Munoz, offering us a transfer lift. Apparently, ‘it’s confirmed’ that the 12-goal star is now set to stay at the club for the 2021/22 campaign.
Munoz states that Cavani ‘will continue’ at United for the next twelve months, while promising more updates on the 34-year-old’s situation as soon as he gets them.
Check out Diego Munoz’ tweet here:
Cavani has become a real cult hero at United. His goals, assists, work ethic and overall ability is there for all to see. No doubt young players like Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood have learned an awful lot from El Matador, too.
The fact that he’s now staying is massive. It means Solskjaer no longer has to go chasing to sign a new striker, giving the gaffer time to focus on adding a top-quality centre-half and maybe even a right-winger.
When fit, Cavani is undoubtedly our best striker and if he can now finish out this season strong, he’ll be feeling good ahead of next term.
Hopefully, he’s mentally prepared for the run-in and ready to help deliver us a Europa League title.
