Edinson Cavani will leave Man United this summer

Edinson Cavani is all set to depart from Man United this summer.

Manchester United’s 2021/22 season is winding down pretty despicably. The players look completely disinterested, while with nothing left to play for, the fans are feeling the same.

The absolute best thing to do is start working on plans for next term and beyond. A new manager will certainly be in place, it’s looking like Erik ten Hag at this moment.

Ralf Rangnick will constantly be feeding information to the powers-that-be about who to keep at the club and who to sign. Well, one man who will not be plying his trade at Old Trafford next term is Edinson Cavani.

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the United star ‘will leave’ the club this summer. The Reds are ‘not planning’ a contract extension for El Matador at this time.

Cavani emerged as a true cult hero in the 2020/21 season, playing with a passion, aggression and determination that we’d seldom seen at Old Trafford for a few years.

However, this time around it has been the complete opposite. Cavani looks completely disinterested. He doesn’t seem willing to put the effort in to get himself out on the field – while doing everything in his power to work hard when the Uruguay international team comes calling.

It’s a shame that it’s going to end on a sour note for Cavani, but United absolutely should not renew his deal. To be honest, even if a fresh contract was on the table, I’d highly doubt he’d sign it anyway…

What is concerning is an alarming lack of depth in the final third for United. That said, in our opinion, the Reds shouldn’t keep Cavani around just for that extra body.

Should Man United keep Edinson Cavani due to a lack of striker depth? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
