Manchester United’s vice chairman Edward Woodward has chosen to stay in the UK rather than flying out to Los Angeles for our pre-season tour. That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who claim that he is conducting transfer business rather than being out in America.
Woodward was not with the rest of the squad when they flew out to LA on Sunday, and instead, he’s now expected to arrive early next week.
The report claims the United chief is working on deals for Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan, as well as eyeing a move for one of Nemanja Matic or Eric Dier.
Jose Mourinho would have wanted all of his transfer business completed before pre-season tour got underway, but at this point, we only have two new players in. If the MEN are correct, Woodward is half-way there – and we have just a couple of days before our first friendly game against the LA Galaxy.
It’s good to know that he’s clearly working hard to push our transfer deals over the line. I guess we have to remember that with the colossal amount of money that’s involved, things do sometimes take time as he’ll obviously be trying to secure the best financial deal for the club. We are a business after all…
