Man United have promoted Shola Shoretire and Anthony Elanga to the first-team squad.
At Manchester United, the saying, ‘if you’re good enough, you’re old enough’ has always been an integral part of the way the club operates. Credit to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for continuing that mantra.
We’ve been offered regular glimpses into the future when the time is right, both on the training field, with several players involved in sessions, and, during games, as the fixture against Leicester City on Tuesday showed.
Well, according to the Manchester Evening News, a pair of players have made an impression and forced their way into the fold permanently; Anthony Elanga and Shola Shoretire.
Apparently, United have promoted the talented duo to the first-team squad after impressing Solskjaer. Honestly, this had been coming as both have been involved in senior training sessions more often than not – despite consistently playing for the U23s.
Obviously, Elanga was given his first start against Leicester City on Tuesday and he looked pretty good. Sure, the Swede was a little rough around the edges but over time, he’ll get used to the speed of the Premier League and I firmly believe the winger will become a great player for us.
As for Shoretire, this boy has endless talent. He’s barely seventeen yet he looks a cut above youth football. Now, it’s time to make that jump. I’m hoping we get to see him in action on Tuesday night against Fulham, as what a moment that would be for him with fans back in the stadium.
I guess now it’s about these two just continuing to develop and hone their talents. Both have the potential to go right the way to the top in this game and I’m just glad they’ve chosen the Red half of Manchester as their home.
Do you think we’ll see these guys play regularly for the first team in 2021/22? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
