Emerging Manchester United star wants to leave Old Trafford on loan following Diogo Dalot’s arrival

Manchester United’s transfer inactivity has been somewhat worrisome, although a deal for Diogo Dalot certainly signals Jose Mourinho’s intent to build for the future.

However, the move for the aforementioned 19-year-old could have dire consequences. Apparently, Timothy Fosu-Mensah now wants to leave Old Trafford due to Dalot’s arrival, as he fears for playing time. That’s according to the Manchester Evening News per the Daily Star, with the Dutchman hoping to secure another loan move.

After spending last season on loan at Crystal Palace, Fosu-Mensah definitely improved as a player. That regular football did him the world of good, but the MEN add that a return to Selhurst Park isn’t on the table.

He’s currently out on pre-season tour with the rest of the first-team squad, so Fosu-Mensah has a big opportunity to prove to the manager that he deserves his chance within the team. Don’t forget, Dalot is currently out injured and isn’t expected to be ready until September at the very earliest.

If the 20-year-old is already throwing in the towel, I’m somewhat disappointed. Fosu-Mensah is already acting like a beaten man, and that negativity is good for nobody. It’s a real shame because he’s an excellent player in his own right, and there could well be an opening at right-back at present following Antonio Valencia’s injury.
