Manchester United could well be in the market for a new striker before tomorrow’s rapidly approaching deadline – particularly if Romelu Lukaku departs Old Trafford.
With the Belgium forward not partaking in any pre-season games this summer, it looks likely (to me anyway) that Lukaku will depart. If that’s the case, the Red Devils would need a contingency plan…
Well, according to Yahoo Sports France journalist Manu Lonjon, there’s an English offer on the table for the talented 23-year-old Lyon Striker, Moussa Dembele.
Furthermore, London states that said offer ‘would be from’ United – which would make sense as Dembele fits the profile of the young, talented player that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems to be targeting.
Dembele has been prolific wherever he has played his football. Celtic, Fulham and now France. He’s slowly kicked his career up a notch every couple of years and perhaps he’s now ready to play for an elite European side.
There could be a problem, however. Dembele only signed for Lyon just last summer and no doubt they’d prefer to keep ahold of one of their prized assets.
United would have to pay the Ligue 1 club handsomely to convince them to sell and there is now just over 36 hours left in the window. United better act quickly.
