Eric Bailly’s Man United future will be assessed, agent hints at lack of playing time

Eric Bailly and his place at Manchester United may be under threat, with his agent claiming that his future is somewhat up in the air.

Signed under Jose Mourinho four season’s ago, Eric Bailly started his Old Trafford career like a house on fire. He enjoyed an excellent debut season though since then, things have gone rapidly downhill.

It’s most notably due to injuries and once again, the Ivorian is currently sidelined with yet another problem. That bad luck has no doubt played a major factor in Bailly’s lack of appearances. However, that hasn’t stopped his agency chirping up.

Graziano Battistini, who is head of Promoesport, the company which represents Bailly, has had his say. Apparently, the 26-year-old United star’s situation at the club will need to be ‘assessed’ with Battistini seriously hinting at a lack of playing time.

Check out what Battistini has to say here:

“The experience with the Red Devils depends, as always, on luck, who you meet, on the opportunities,” said Mr Battistini, according to the Daily Star.

“If he has the right chances, for me he can be an important player to solve some problems of the team.

“If all this does not happen, it is clear that the situation will need to be assessed, but now it is too early to say certain things.”

Look, I get it. I understand why Bailly and his representatives believe that he could make a difference. After all, he’s quick, strong, willing to dive head-first into anything and put his body on the line. On paper, he looks like the perfect partner for Harry Maguire.

Unfortunately, though, it hasn’t panned out that way at all. Any player needs time to get fully back up to speed following lengthy injuries. Bailly just hasn’t been afforded that luxury as he cannot keep himself fit for any prolonged period.

I’m not sure his agent chirping up will help the situation at all, though. I understand Bailly wants to play, but surely he needs to focus on getting back to 100% fitness before going out into the media and making subtle demands?

Hopefully, Bailly is back after the international break and maybe we’ll see him play a major part before the turn of the year.
