Manchester United’s pre-season is going excellently on the field as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team have won five from five.
However, off it, there are still issues. Signings need to be made, while the Baby Faced Assassin has now been dealt a major injury blow.
According to Solskjaer, 25-year-old centre-back Eric Bailly is out injured for the next ‘four to five months’ following successful surgery on the knee problem he picked up against Tottenham Hotspur last week.
That now all-but confirms Bailly will not play again in 2019, with the Ivorian looking to get back out on the pitch for the run-in of the 2019/20 campaign.
Bailly just cannot catch a break at the moment, can he? Just when it seems as though he’s getting back to full fitness and putting the problems behind him another injury occurs. This time it’s a serious one which will not only hurt him physically but mentally, too…
If anything, this just further highlights the need for Solskjaer to go out and sign a top-quality centre-half. Harry Maguire’s name keeps popping up in the mainstream media and right now we need him more than ever.
With time running out in the transfer window, Edward Woodward will have to act quickly and push the deal for ‘Slabhead’ over the line. For what it’s worth I do think it’ll happen, eventually…
