Just hours after Eric Bailly injury fears were doing the rounds, our Ivorian centre-half has cleared up those claims…
Earlier today, we covered a story from The Metro, who claimed that centre-half Bailly was looking likely to miss Newcastle away due to a hamstring problem.
Bailly was pictured looking in discomfort while playing for his country last night, midway through the second half. Eventually, he’d have to be substituted due to the problem, which comes as no surprise to us Manchester United fans.
Understandably, with his injury record, we began to fear the worst. However, the United star quickly dispelled those rumours. Bailly sent a message to the fans, clearing up the injury fears admitting that he’s doing well…
Here’s what Bailly had to say in regards to the rumoured injury problem:
“Thank you for worrying about me, but I’m doing well. Just fatigue. Goodnight to you all and God protect us. Congratulations to my team for the match against the first ranked team.” Bailly posted on his Instagram, translated by the Manchester Evening News.
This is some welcome news at this point, with it all being doom and gloom surrounding United at the moment. Sure, Bailly struggled badly against Spurs at the weekend, but at least he gives Ole Gunnar Solskjaer another option…
I maintain that the Ivorian is the best partner we have for Harry Maguire at the moment, with the pair complementing each other pretty well – on paper at least.
Sure, in time, Teden Mengi could be the go-to man. While who knows what we’ll get out of Axel Tuanzebe this term? For now, though, I’d press ahead with the former Sevilla man and give him a good run in the team.
His injury history doesn’t look great, but who knows, perhaps he’s over the worst of it…?
