Eric Bailly has picked up yet another injury problem.
Manchester United have been pretty diabolical defensively this season. That’s despite the addition of Raphael Varane.
It’s pretty clear that the Frenchman is the only reliable centre-half we currently have at the club, with the others all having their own consistency issues.
One man who has often shown promise is Eric Bailly. However, injuries have seriously hampered his Red Devils career after a stunning debut season at Old Trafford.
Yesterday, the treatment table woes for the United star continued, as Bailly would suffer a head injury while playing for the Ivory Coast at AFCON.
Bailly would have to be substituted late on following picking up the issue, though the severity of the issue isn’t yet clear, the Manchester Evening News report.
If the problem is a concussion, don’t be surprised if Bailly is sent home from Ivory Coast duty. This is an injury not to be messed with and the centre-half will need plenty of time to rest up and recover before going back out on the field.
I’ll also give him a pass on the injury front here. Sure, Bailly has had muscular and various other injuries in the past. Though this sort of problem isn’t something you can just avoid. It was a freak accident involving a clash of heads. That’s not something the 27-year-old can control.
I just hope that this doesn’t further dent Bailly’s confidence. Right now, Bailly needs all the help he can get on that front and another prolonged period on the sidelines just isn’t good for his mental health.
Get well soon, Eric!
