Man United midfielder Hannibal is set to spend the season away from Old Trafford on loan.
Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United squad is (very slowly) starting to take shape.
The Dutchman is probably disappointed with the amount of business that the Old Trafford club have done so far, particularly in terms of incomings.
Midfield is an area of genuine concern. Fred and Scott McTominay are literally the club’s best options right now. Amongst the guys patiently waiting to break into the side is Hannibal Mejbri.
The young man was given a bit-part role on pre-season tour, which always suggested Hannibal could spend this season away from Old Trafford.
Now, according to the Manchester Evening News, it’s being reported that Ten Hag ‘has agreed’ to send the talented teen out on loan in order to aid the player’s development.
Hannibal is at that stage in his career where he needs meaningful playing time, while the MEN report that a loan deal could be agreed in the ‘coming days’, due to interest in the teenager being ‘high’.
It’s believed that three Championship clubs have made provisional offers to take Hannibal, with one unnamed side ‘leading the way’ to get a deal done.
At this stage, Hannibal has to go to the right situation. Ideally, a move to a club that can guarantee him starts every single week. This is the only way he’ll begin to improve as a footballer.
It’d also be preferable if Hannibal moves to a higher-end Championship team. It’s always better for confidence levels when you’re winning games and if the Tunisia international can find himself in the right situation, I firmly believe he’ll come back to United next summer in a really strong position.
