Erik ten Hag gave a typical answer when asked whether Man United are in a title race…
Yesterday’s Manchester derby was truly incredible. Erik ten Hag’s side found themselves a goal down in the second half, with all hope looking lost.
A couple of tactical tweaks and a substitution completely changed the game on it’s head. United found an equaliser through Bruno Fernandes, before Marcus Rashford (who else?), secured all three points for Manchester United.
Suddenly, United find themselves just a point behind Manchester City – and six behind Arsenal, who have a game in hand. With United heading to the Emirates next weekend to take on the Gunners, the question had to be asked, can United win it…?
Well, a journalist asked Ten Hag that question after the game yesterday – and he gave the typical, politician’s answer. Though he’s probably correct in what he’s saying.
Check out what Ten Hag said on Man United being in a title race here:
“Fans can dream but we are not (getting carried away)”. Ten Hag told the media, including Jamie Jackson.
This absolutely feels a year or two too soon for this United side. Yes, they’re playing some brilliant stuff right now. Yes, confidence is flowing, though the squad isn’t completely as Ten Hag would like. That takes time to assemble.
We’re all buzzing with how it’s going right now. However, heading into the season, the aim was always to finish inside the top four. That’s still not a foregone conclusion, so United have to keep ticking off one small goal at a time.
As long as the lads keep racking up the wins, whatever happens, happens. They’ll no doubt be blips along the way, but I’m absolutely loving watching these guys play right now. Long may that continue.
