Erik ten Hag has confirmed that the two latest Man United recruits will be in the squad vs Fulham this evening.
Well, here we go again. Manchester United take on Fulham in the opening Premier League game of the season, with the Red Devils looking to kick things off on the right foot.
The Old Trafford side have had a pretty decent pre-season in terms of new recruits and shipping out some dead-wood, though injuries are still an issue.
Erik ten Hag acquired two former Ajax men earlier on in the week, with both Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui making the move to the Theatre of Dreams.
Whether they’ve had enough training in the legs to be involved in this match was another matter entirely – though the United gaffer has now explained the two new boys will be involved vs Fulham tonight.
Check out what Erik ten Hag had to say in full here:
“They will be in the squad.” Ten Hag told ManUtd.com when asked about the availability of his new signings.
Having De Ligt and Mazraoui available is massive. Particularly with the defensive injuries that Ten Hag is currently dealing with.
Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are missing so I genuinely believe there’s a very good chance Mazraoui starts. He and Diogo Dalot are the only fit full-backs on the books right now.
De Ligt is another who also has a great opportunity already. Harry Maguire is limping into the season. Jonny Evans, too. Leny Yoro is done until November.
Honestly, both could be involved from the off. Why not start them both on the right-hand side of defence? They know each other well and they can help one another settle in.
