Marcus Rashford has to make a decision on his future, according to Erik ten Hag.
There’s no doubt that Marcus Rashford is loving life under Erik ten Hag at the moment. The Englishman is playing at a supremely high level for the Red Devils. England also benefitted from his form, too.
Rashford is probably chomping at the bit to get back to Old Trafford and continue his excellent form, with United feeling like a team who can compete with anyone on their day. The Reds’ number 10 is key to any success Ten Hag’s side will have this season.
It has somewhat slipped under the radar, but as of January, Rashford can talk to overseas clubs about signing a pre-contract ahead of summer 2023. That’s due to the fact that he’s yet to commit his long-term future to United.
Well, the boss has all-but-confirmed United will activate the one-year extension clause in Rashy’s current contract – however, Ten Hag didn’t seem 100% sure that the Englishman will stay beyond that.
The key United star ‘has to make a decision’ on his future, according to Ten Hag. Obviously, United want to keep him, but it’s seemingly not as straightforward as we all just assumed…

“He [Marcus] has to make a decision,” the boss told the media, per ManUtd.com. “The only thing we can do is show him this is the best club to be in, which has to do with the culture of the club and also in the way we are working, in the way we play and the way we train and if we are offering the right environment to progress.
“It’s a financial issue as well. Then it is up to him to make the decision. But for one-and-a-half years, he will be here.”
No doubt interest from PSG is keeping Rashford open-minded. This is a club that can guarantee him trophies year-in-year-out while playing with the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe must be pretty tempting…
However, there’s no place like home. He loves United just as much as me and you. No other club side in the world can give him that feeling. The problem here? Trophies are anything but a guarantee. Rashford is a winner. He wants to end his career with a trophy cabinet lined with silverware.
It’s a tough decision – and one I think I have personally overlooked. There seems to be a genuine possibility that Rashford chooses to move elsewhere. To me, that’s super concerning.
