Erik ten Hag confirms Victor Lindelof is not available for Brighton game this weekend

Erik ten Hag will not be able to call upon Victor Lindelof for Man United’s game against Brighton on Saturday.

Manchester United have endured an injury-ridden period over the last year or so. It feels like the Old Trafford side haven’t been able to get in front of their problems, making Erik ten Hag’s job that much tougher.

The issues have carried over into the new season, which is far from ideal. Leny Yoro is out for the foreseeable. Rasmus Hojlund, too. Last week, Victor Lindelof was added to the long-term casualty list after he was spotted on crutches.

The Swede had been an important part of the team for many years, though United have strengthened in that area of the field. However, having him as an option would have been far better than him being stuck on the treatment table.

Now, Ten Hag has confirmed that the United first-teamer will not be involved against Brighton this weekend, though there is hope he can ‘return quickly’ from the toe issue he’s currently dealing with.

Check out what Ten Hag had to say when asked directly about Lindelof:

“There is no confusion, he has an issue on his toe. So hopefully he (Lindelof) can return quickly but he is not available for the weekend.” Ten Hag told ManUtd.com.

The first task for Lindelof is getting back fit. The second is breaking into the side. Honestly, it now looks tough for the former Benfica man, given the calibre of players that are now in front of him.

I assume that if Lindelof wasn’t injured, United would be looking at moving him on in the transfer market, though that will no longer happen as he wouldn’t pass a medical with the prospective buying club.

Hopefully, he’s back fit and available soon as United may look to put him in the shop window during upcoming Europa League matches.
