Man United may well make a move for Sebastian Haller, in what would be a surprise signing.
With Edinson Cavani set to depart this summer, a new striker has been added to Manchester United’s long list of needs. A new name has been added to that pool of potential targets.
Erik ten Hag probably has a bigger job on than he initially realised, but given time, I firmly believe he’s up to the challenge.
In the short-term, it makes sense to surround yourself with familiar faces. Hence why we think Donny van de Beek could have a big role to play in 2022/23.
Well, The Sun go one further. They claim that Ten Hag ‘could bring’ the 33-goal forward, Sebastian Haller, to United this summer.
Ten Hag has worked with the ex-West Ham man during their time together at Ajax, and has undoubtedly got the absolute best out of the Ivory Coast international.
The article states that Haller ‘could be following’ in the same direction as his manager, as United are unable to afford the likes of Harry Kane. Instead, they’ve been forced to look a little further down their transfer list.
Haller, who cost Ajax £20million, is an interesting one. This is not a guy who is going to replace Cristiano Ronaldo from the starting line-up anytime soon. Though Ten Hag knows exactly how the striker operates. So it could be a shrewd piece of business.
The deal is totally dependent on Haller being able to get over his Premier League struggles during his time at West Ham – then kicking it up to an even higher standard of football. He’s more mature now than he was back then, but this feels like a massive roll of the dice to me.
