Man United boss Erik ten Hag has delivered the all-important team news for Sunday’s game vs Arsenal.
Suddenly, the future looks somewhat bright for Manchester United Football Club. The Red Devils have won three on the spin for the first time since December, as the Old Trafford club continue to improve under Erik ten Hag.
In the Premier League, there are no easy games. The tough run continues this Sunday when unbeaten Arsenal visit the Theatre of Dreams. Mikel Arteta’s men have a 100% win rate, though I fancy our chances to upset the applecart here.
Ahead of the game, Ten Hag gave us the all-important team news, confirming that one key man will ‘not be involved’ vs Arsenal due to an Achilles issue. Obviously, we’re talking about Anthony Martial.
“It’s difficult to say when I talk about Luke Shaw and Aaron, but Anthony Martial will not be involved on Sunday.” Ten Hag told club media.
Asked when Martial may return, the Dutchman replied: “I cannot tell at this moment.”
There was some better news in regards to both Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who do have a shot at featuring in some capacity – though I don’t see Ten Hag changing his back four here.
Martial is the big loss. We assumed that he wouldn’t be back fit here due to the quick turnaround in between games, while his absence continues to be a problem.
United just don’t look like the same team without him. Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t bring the work ethic, while Marcus Rashford isn’t as good as the Frenchman when it comes to holding up the ball.
Hopefully, this injury isn’t a long term one. The sooner the former AS Monaco is back and available for selection, the better.
It does look like deadline day signing Antony is good to play if the manager deems him ready for action, though. Which is a good bit of news for us fans who are eager to see him out there.
