Erik ten Hag was asked about the shape of his Man United squad ahead of the Spurs game this weekend.
For Manchester United, the games are now coming thick and fast. The Red Devils host Tottenham Hotspur this weekend, in a Premier League game that has the potential to excite as two top teams go at it.
Victory here is key. The pressure is beginning to build on the gaffer after a slow start to the campaign, leaving United in eleventh in the table. Ange Postecoglu is also under pressure at White Hart Lane, with two sides desperate for three points.
Being at home, with the Old Trafford crowd behind them you’d like to think that the Red Devils are favourites. Ahead of the game, Erik ten Hag has spoken to the media, giving an all-important team news update.
Sadly, the Dutchman confirmed that nobody is fit to return here, as the likes of Leny Yoro, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia will remain on the sidelines for this one.
Check out what the gaffer had to say here:
“No, I don’t think so. It will be the same squad as yesterday [Wednesday].” Ten Hag stated when asked if any players will be fit to return, per ManUtd.com.
I guess asking for the aforementioned injured trio to return was always a long shot, particularly in the case of Yoro and Malacia who aren’t really close to making their comebacks.
It was Shaw who I was looking at, though his target return date is still a week away. The sooner the recognised left-back is fit again, the better, as it means Diogo Dalot no longer has to play out of position.
The good news here is that no new injuries have been picked up, while the likes of Rasmus Hojlund and Mason Mount continue to build up their fitness levels after their own recent injury problems. Neither will be ready to start here I would imagine, though having them as options off the bench is not a bad thing.
