Erik ten Hag has shared the latest update on the Man United squad, ahead of the derby this coming Sunday…
Well, here we go again. The Manchester derby is upon us, as Manchester United look to keep themselves in the race to finish inside the top four.
Erik ten Hag was already up against it, though the injury problems have only worsened over the last week or so. There’ll be no Harry Maguire, Rasmus Hojlund or Luke Shaw, while the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Tyrell Malacia also remain sidelined. It’s a tough situation.
Club captain Bruno Fernandes was pictured limping at full-time after the cup game on Wednesday night, while Raphael Varane was also doubtful for that clash. The good news? The pair are likely to be available according to the manager. He offered the Manchester derby team news update to the media within the last 24 hours.
Check out what the gaffer had to say in full here:
“They [Varane, Bruno] fought to be part [of it] and they came well out of the game. I think they will be available for Sunday as well,” Ten Hag told the media, including ManUtd.com.
“And for the rest, I don’t think players will return for Sunday, so we do it with the squad from yesterday.”
Sadly, this means we’ll likely see Sofyan Amrabat at left-back again, which is far from ideal. It also means an out-of-position Marcus Rashford will lead the line for the 20-time Premier League champions.
I guess in football, you always have a chance. United thrive on the counter attack so if the lads can break out quickly, you just never know, but we’re obviously massive underdogs in this match.
Bruno looked absolutely dead on his feet on Wednesday and you just know that City will run him even more ragged than Nottingham Forest did. I’d be surprised if he completes the 90 minutes here, particularly if the game is dead and buried come the hour mark, but let’s just wait and see how it plays out…

Man.Utd should do some serious thinking instead of talking which is not getting them anywhere because action speaks louder thsn words. So first things first, they have to pull their socks up and work harder attend training and in their fitness levels.
They have to practice to strike with confidence and to trick the goalie like we said many a times, they shoot it straight into the goalie’s hands. This is how they misfire alot of goals. They have to prove to their fans that this game is the most important to them. Rashford and Bruno has alot to prove to the fans.
