Erik ten Hag full of praise for ‘brilliant’ Marcus Rashford display vs Arsenal

Erik ten Hag has heaped the praise on Marcus Rashford, who put in a ‘really great’ performance against Arsenal.

Manchester United Football Club have won four Premier League matches in a row. Nobody thought that was going to happen a fortnight ago.

Credit where it’s due, Erik ten Hag always remained confident in his belief that this squad is jam-packed with talented players who can execute his system perfectly. We’re now seeing the results of that.

Although the 3-1 win wasn’t as comfortable due to an excellent Arsenal performance, this is a results business. United got the win they absolutely deserved due to their clinical finishing.

One man was directly involved with all three goals; Marcus Rashford.

The Englishman picked up an assist for the opener, before adding a couple of his own with some superb strikes when clean through on goal.

Although there are things Rashford can work on, like picking the right pass and holding up the play, it was an overall positive display from a man who looks right back to his best.

After the match, Ten Hag singled out the ‘brilliant’ United star for praise, claiming his overall display was a ‘really great’ one. It’s hard to disagree.

β€œHe was brilliant. It was a really great performance from him. As a striker, he was pressing. But also, when we played it over him and he was the target, he made the right decisions.” Ten Hag told ManUtd.com.

“For instance, also with the goal for Antony. Finally, he was twice in behind and finished. It was a great performance and I’m really happy because he has invested a lot.”

Rashford has had a tough time of it ever since he missed that penalty at the European Championships, but Ten Hag absolutely seems to have breathed new life into the now-24-year-old.

The Englishman now has six goal contributions at the start of this campaign. That’s what Rashford makes his name on. Long may that continue.

As his confidence levels continue to grow, I’m sure we’re going to see Rashford improve in every other aspect of his game. No doubt working with a gaffer like Ten Hag is also helping him out endlessly.

More than anything, I’m just so pleased for the man himself. Rashford deserves this, particularly after the really rough time of it he’s had of late.
