Erik ten Hag was full of praise for Alejandro Garnacho in his most recent meeting with the media.
Manchester United Football Club are improving under Erik ten Hag. The Dutch manager is implementing a style, a strict regime and some clear-cut tactics.
Our squad is emerging. From an underconfident bunch to a dressing room full of belief and natural ability. Ten Hag deserves all the credit in the world for that, albeit early on in his tenure.
Perhaps Ten Hag’s early crowning glory is Alejandro Garnacho. The Argentine, who was the star of the FA Youth Cup final last May, has gone from strength to strength since then.
The winger topped off a memorable six months with a derby day assist, leading to United winning all three points against Manchester City. The teenager is now a regular in the matchday squad, proving he can be the one who can make that difference.
Now, in his most recent media meeting before the Crystal Palace game, Ten Hag was full of praise for the United starlet who is improving a ‘lot’ of late.
Check out what Erik ten Hag had to say on Alejandro Garnaco in full here:
“Yeah, he’s [improving] a lot,” said Ten Hag, per ManUtd.com. “He has skill and I don’t see that many players, even in the Premier League, who have that skill, like he beats players one-on-one. But he learned in the last months how to play in the team and how to live and do the right things in the week, and how to have the right attitude on the training ground.
“You can see how he is acting as a team player,” explained the manager. “But his individual skills can make the difference. Also, for him, it’s to keep going in the process, it’s not done as there is a lot to come and a lot more room for improvement for him, but he can help contribute on the highest level.
“I’m really happy. It is a bonus for us, as a club, that you bring in young players who come into the squad and even come into the team. I think also it is a part of our project that has to contribute to our success.”
Just a few months ago, there were questions about Garnacho’s attitude. I love the fact that the Argentine hasn’t let that define him. Instead, he’s worked even harder, continued to put in the effort and bounce back from that as any future world-beater would.
Honestly, right now, we should just enjoy every single minute of Garnacho. His future at this club is by no means a given, particularly in the long run. Yeah, United may well get another contract out of the teenager, though I can’t help but feel his future probably lies away from Old Trafford, similar to Cristiano Ronaldo’s first spell here in Manchester.
Hopefully, Garnacho continues to develop and grow, becoming a real dependable starter for the Red Devils for at least the next few years.
