Erik ten Hag could well be looking to bring two Ajax players with him to Man United.
Manchester United Football Club have a huge summer ahead. Erik ten Hag needs to be given huge financial backing if he’s to help turn our fortunes around.
With a mass exodus taking place this summer, as several of the dressing room gear up to leave for nothing, they will need replacing.
For Ten Hag, familiarity could be key. It makes sense bringing players in you’ve worked with previously as the manager will know their playing style inside-out.
That’s why the latest report from The Mirror makes perfect sense. They say that Ten Hag has ‘left the door open’ to bringing an Ajax duo with him to United this summer.
The players? Winger Antony and centre-back Jurrien Timber.
Both have come on leaps and bounds under Ten Hag’s guidance at Ajax. Both would fill huge needs within the squad.
Suddenly, United are looking pretty thin on the ground in terms of numbers in the final third. Antony could bring some spark, flair and attacking intent to United’s hit-and-miss front line.
As for Timber, this young man has been supremely impressive this season. The 20-year-old has emerged as one of the next big things from Ajax’s famous academy, following in the footsteps of Matthijs de Ligt.
The centre-half could slot straight into our starting line-up alongside Raphael Varane or Harry Maguire, while again, Ten Hag knows his strengths and weaknesses having worked with Timber all year long.
At this point, us fans would just take anyone who’d wear the badge with pride. We’ve been seriously struggling in pretty much every position of the field for the last year or so. Why not bring in some fresh blood and see if they can help turn our fortunes around?
